The AI model fireworks are not slowing down. After OpenAI and Google $GOOGL ( ▲ 6.31% ) rolled out their newest heavy hitters in recent weeks, Anthropic is stepping into the ring with Claude Opus 4.5, the newest version of its flagship model.

Claude has long had a reputation as one of the best coding AIs on the market, and Opus 4.5 is Anthropic’s way of reminding everyone it intends to stay near the front of the pack. According to the company’s benchmarks, Opus 4.5 tops GPT 5.1 and Gemini 3 on the SWE-bench coding test with a record-setting score of 80 percent. It also delivered strong results in computer-use tasks and the ARC-AGI-2 reasoning benchmark, although it still cannot run a vending machine as profitably as Gemini 3.

Coding remains one of the few AI use cases that consistently shows real productivity gains for enterprises. That traction has mattered for Anthropic. Its strong foothold with corporate customers has pushed the company’s valuation close to 350 billion dollars and positioned Claude Opus 4.5 as another high-profile contender in a rapidly escalating AI showdown.
